Artist Profile → Espen Friberg
Espen Friberg was born and raised in the sleepy suburbs of Oslo, Norway but now lives in Brooklyn, New York. Here he works on various projects of illustration, graphic design and art. Before moving to America, he co-founded and ran the design studio Yokoland together with his friend Aslak Gurholt Rønsen.
- For the people who don't know your work - how would you describe it ?
- I draw and I make collages and I think about ideas.
- What are the key themes running through your practice?
- Psychedelia, humor, surrealism and nature.
- Your favorite place on earth?
- It used to be my studio but since Im working from home right now I would have to say the nature surrounding Oslo, Norway. Here you can see for yourself:

- China Crisis.
- Describe your thought & design process...
- I start by thinking and feeling out ideas, then I start making something, then I don't like it and then I think about something else. Before I know it I've spent way too much time on it and then I find out my original idea was best.

- Bendik Kaltenborn, Marianne Hallseth, Will Simpson, and Travess Smalley.

- Wikipedia.
- Do you have any upcoming projects/exhibitions we should know about?
- My collage project Mr. Special is soon to be published as a book (with a complimentary text and a cassette soundtrack) by the Norwegian publisher Aki Books.
