Artist Profile → Dan Has Potential

Daniel Brereton is an illustrator and filmmaker based in London. He grew up in Kendal, Cumbria and studied Graphic Design at Camberwell College of Arts. He has worked with a number of bands on music promos including Metronomy, Late of the Pier and Egyptian Hip Hop. He has exhibited in Madrid, Northern Ireland and Gothenburg with solo shows in London and Lodi, Italy.

  • For the people who don't know your work - how would you describe it ?

  • Objects floating down the river towards the sea.

  • What are the key themes running through your practice?

  • Theres a shelf with lots of things on, like pots, eggs and eyeballs, and i often add to it.

  • Your favorite place on earth?

  • I don't have a favourite place, i like new places.

  • What influences your work?

  • Seeing, imagining, are these influences? putting one thing with another thing.

  • What music are you into right now?

  • Van Morrison, Connan Mockasin, The Vaselines.

  • Describe your thought & design process...

  • It always varies, but often look at internet, think of old work, try drawing something, make mistakes, try again.

  • Which emerging artists are you looking forward to seeing more of?
